Legal draft

Donation Policy

This draft explains the safeguards that must apply before the platform can accept donations.

Draft for legal review. This language is an operational starting point, not legal advice or an approved policy.

Live donations are not enabled

The foundation must first verify legal identity, bank ownership, payment-provider approval, domestic contribution eligibility, campaign allocation rules, and authorised sign-off.

Designated gifts

A campaign must state whether a gift is restricted and what happens if a goal is exceeded, a need changes, or a program cannot proceed. Restricted gifts must not be silently reallocated.

Tax representations

No tax deduction, 80G, 12A, CSR or FCRA statement is made. Any future claim requires documentary verification and an approved receipt process.

How a payment becomes a verified donation

The server creates an order using the approved campaign and amount. Provider signatures and webhooks are checked before the donation is captured in the ledger. A return to a success page alone does not create a receipt, and duplicate provider events must not create duplicate donations.

Domestic and international contributions

INR is the intended default currency. International and foreign-source contributions must remain disabled until the foundation confirms applicable permissions, bank arrangements and provider support. A payment method being technically available does not establish legal eligibility.

Privacy, communication and anonymity

Donors may request that their name not appear in public acknowledgements. Legal or financial records may still need the verified payer details. Donation communications and future appeals should follow the donor’s recorded preference and provide an unsubscribe route.
